Marconi Stairs Fundraising Effort Success

The Friends of Cape Cod National Seashore, the philanthropic partner of Cape Cod National Seashore, is pleased to announce it is close to reaching its $125,000 fundraising goal to rebuild the Marconi Beach stairs. As of January, the group raised more than $123,000 to restore the beach access stairs destroyed by a three-day nor’easter in September 2024.

Ongoing Shorebird Intern Project Funding ($50,000)

Expanded annual funding is sought for a program the Friends have supported for many years. This project protects nesting shorebirds, including the endangered piping plover. Learn more

Old Harbor Life-Saving Station Stairs ($5,000)

Fund the replacement of interior stairs at the Lifesaving Station


Buttonbush Trail Enhancements ($40,000).

This popular, all-access trail near the Salt Pond Visitor Center is an entry point to the Sea-shore. The initial phase of this project was funded through the generous gift of Harry McCormack and Marianne McGee in December 2022. Funds are now sought to redesign and replace Buttonbush wayside panels.


Buttonbush Trail Boardwalk Replacement ($50,000)

This popular, all-access trail near the Salt Pond Visitor Center is an entry point to the Seashore. The initial phase of this project was funded through the generous gift of Harry McCormack and Marianne McGee in December 2022. Funds are now sought to install a boardwalk.


Highland Lighthouse Documentation ($15,000)

A 3-D digital survey and documentation are proposed for this historic structure, which is the oldest and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod and one of six within the National Seashore.


Wampanoag Heritage ($20,000)

A Story Map and audio tour of the Wampanoag wetu and garden at Highland Center in Truro are proposed. The Wampanoags are a federally-recognized tribe with ancestral lands on the Cape, Martha’s Vineyard, and southeastern New England.

Cape Cod National Seashore’s Atlantic Research and Learning Center hosts an annual Science in the Seashore Symposium, at the Salt Pond Visitor Center


Winter Film Series at the Salt Pond Visitor Center

Friends sponsors an annual Winter Film Series at the Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham featuring a theater-size screen and surround sound. Check the Events Calendar where listings will be published.
