National Public Lands Day: Seeding the Seashore

CHANGE IN PLANS: The park’s Natural Resources team has identified a marsh area nicknamed "The Gut" as the ideal place to gather seeds of Spartina (a marsh grass). For part one of the event day, volunteers should meet at the Great Island Parking Lot at 9 AM to participate in seed collecting at The Gut. Seed collecting will last from approximately 9 AM to 10:30 AM. Afterwards, volunteers may proceed to the Duck Harbor Parking Lot for part two of the event day. Starting at 11 AM, volunteers will spread the collected seeds across the Duck Harbor area. Join plant ecologist Stephen Smith, and Community Volunteer Ambassador, Luke Greer to gather natural materials in order to naturally reseed Duck Harbor.  This volunteer opportunity will be spread between the morning and afternoon.

All supplies and PPE are provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a water bottle, shoes/clothing you don't mind getting muddy, and sun protection. Duck Harbor, Wellfleet. There is ample parking. Link here for a map with directions and more information.
