Every summer the Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore presents a full season of free activities that run the gamut from exciting concerts to riveting lectures for the entire family. In past summer seasons, Dr. Greg Skomal, noted shark researcher, presented "Jaws Comes Home"; IFAW's Brian Sharp presented "From Right Whales to Gray Seals: Stranding Response on Cape Cod"; and renowned naturalist Peter Trull spoke about "The Symbiotic Relationship in Humpback Whales and Marine Birds." Music events each summer include concerts by groups such as "Toast and Jam," "Billy and Beth," The Rum Soaked Crooks" and the "Outer Cape Chorale Chamber Singers." Additionally, the Friends sponsor performers such as Zoe Lewis, Peter Donnelly and Chandler Travis at the Herring Cove Concerts in Provincetown.

Calendar

Friends sponsors FREE concerts and events each year for Cape Cod residents and visitors to the Seashore. It also sponsors Cape Cod National Seashore's "Tuesday Evenings at Salt Pond" programs as well as events at Province Lands Visitor Center and Herring Cove Beach.

Tuesday Evening at Salt Pond Programs and Tuesday and Thursday Evening Friends Concerts are presented at the Salt Pond Visitor Center. For events at Salt Pond Visitor Center, check with the ranger because some events are outside at the amphitheater, others are inside at the auditorium. At Salt Pond, doors open at 6:30 for interior events. All of the popular Salt Pond events start at 7PM. Arrive early because auditorium seating is limited. The Salt Pond Visitor Center auditorium is wheel chair accessible. For more information call SPVC at 508-255-3421, ext. 0.

"Sunset Concerts on the Beach" at Herring Cove in Provincetown are co-sponsored by Friends of the Cape Cod National Seashore and Far Land on the Beach. These free concerts feature favorite Cape musicians. Starting times vary: June 27th concert starts at 6:30PM; July concerts also start at 6:30PM; August concerts start at 6:00PM; and September 2nd concert starts at 5:30PM. The two-hour concerts, along with food, drinks, beer and wine, plus a campfire, continue until sunset. The sunsets at Herring Cove are unparalleled since the sun actually seems to set into the ocean.
